Ocean Gale

Janice Jobey,

Beachcombers race to outrun the rapidly rising tide
As it rushes forward to carry away shovel and pail
While leaving behind a sandy rippling trail
And seaweed strands like wavy lizard tails

Beach creatures scurry to find safety
As the mounting wind begins to howl and rail
While lifting a lost sarong like a sail
And a banner screaming “I prevail!”
